On May 20th, 2012, the First Basketball League organized by USTC ended in the stadium of the East-campus. After ninety-nine matches lasting two and a half months , the basketball team of the School of Computer Science and Technology worked tenaciously to beat all competitors and finally shoot the title.
The Basketball League, as popular as the traditional basketball game called Ke Star Cup, attracted the attention of numerous people including students and teachers. There were 14 teams participating in the competition which is divided into the round robin and the playoffs. After the round robin, the team of Physical Science, Chemistry and Materials Science, Computer Science and Technology, Engineering Science won the opportunities to compete in playoffs with three games two wins system. In the semi-final, the team of Computer Science and Technology weeded out the team of Chemistry and Materials Science by a margin of 2-1. And the team of Physical Science reached the finals as well.
In the first game of final series, because of sloppy play and turnovers, the team of Computer Science and Technology scored 10 points less than the team of Physical Science when there were 5 minutes left. However, players of the School of Computer Science and Technology never gave up. With the help of zone defense, they defeat the team of Physical Science who scored zero in the last 5 minutes.
Two teams were neck and neck in the second game. Finally, with powerful defense, positive cooperation and trusting each other, the team of Computer Science and Technology clinched the competitor and won the series with 2-0.
The spirit, which is unremitting efforts and never giving up, makes the team of Computer Science and Technology deserve the championship. Moreover, the experience of winning the sixth title in basketball matches will become a wonderful memory of all team members.
