Based on the success of last summer, the graduate school and Suzhou Institute for Advanced Study of USTC jointly organized the Graduate Summer School of Ministry of Education on Internet of Things from June 21 to August 20, 2012.
The school engaged Prof. ZHANG Junshan, the IEEE Fellow and Professor of Arizona State University, and XING Kai, associate professor of USTC, as teachers with the topic "The fundamental theory and practice of Internet of Things". The student members were recommended by well-known domestic universities and research institutes, including Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, University of Science and Technology of China, Fudan University, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Southeast University, East China Normal University, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications.
The opening ceremony of the summer school was held at Wuxi Internet of Things research Institution, hosted by Prof. LIU Haitao, the chief scientist both of 973 program of Internet of Things and Wuxi Internet of Things research Institution. ZHANG Feng, director of Administrative Center for Basic Research of Ministry of Science and Technology of China, was invited and addressed the ceremony.

The overseas famous scholars in invitation included Prof. QIAO Chunming, the IEEE fellow and professor of University at Buffalo, the State University of New York, Prof. LI Xiangyang and Dr. REN Kui from Illinois Institute of Technology, Dr. ZHANG Pei from Carnegie Mellon University and Dr. LIN Shan from Temple University. They gave excellent lectures of the latest development on Internet of Things like intelligent transportation, body monitoring, environment monitoring and so on.

The Graduate Summer School of Ministry of Education on Internet of Things was in charge of Prof. HUANG Liusheng, professor of School of Computer Science and Technology and Suzhou Institute for Advanced Study of USTC, and his research team, and was supported by the program of National Graduates Academic Communication Platform of Ministry of Education 2011-2015.
