USTC and Sugon Company signed the agreement of a strategic partnership on 31 May 2013, set up “USTC-Sugon education and training base for high-efficiency computer systems and applications” to start a long-term cooperation on talent development and scientific research. The headmaster of USTC HOU Jianguo, vice principal ZHANG Shulin, executive president of School of Computer Science and Technology CHEN Huaping, the director of Network Information Center LI Jing, the president of Sugon Company LI Jun, vice presidents ZHANG Yueping and YANG Fukang, and the secretary general of high-performance computing committee of Chinese Computer Federation ZHANG Yunquan attended the signing ceremony.
As the widespread use of high-performance computing in oil exploration, weather forecast, Aerospace and Defense, the top talents has been the major bottleneck in the development of high-performance computing. The base aims to strengthen the infrastructure of key disciplines, and conduct vocational training on supercomputing and cloud computing all around the country, accelerating top-talent cultivation in high-efficiency computer systems and applications.
By agreement, Sugon Company first will provide training systems worth 3 million Yuan, including servers, storage devices, and clustering software, as the experiment platform of the base. Both sides will cooperate in supercomputing events for college students at home and abroad. Moreover, Sugon Company will provide achievements transformation base for USTC.
