Hosted by USTC, the 14th International Conference on Intelligent Data Engineering and Automated Learning (IDEAL'2013) has been held in Hefei, China, during October 20-23.The conference provided an exciting platform for over 100 delegates from the United States, Europe and other countries to communicate their research on intelligent data analysis, machine learning, and evolutionary computation.
This year’s IDEAL conference is featured with a group of internationally renowned keynote speakers, including Professor Igor Aleksander (Fellow of The Royal Academy of Engineering) from Imperial College London, Professor Wen Gao (IEEE Fellow, Fellow of Chinese Academy of Engineering) from Peking University, Professor Stephen Muggleton (Fellow of The Royal Academy of Engineering) from Imperial College London, Professor Eric Goodman from Michigan State University, Dr. Graham J. Williams (Director of Data Mining at Australian Taxation Office), and Professor Frank Klawonn from Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences.
In addition, a panel discussion on " Big Data: Real Challenges and Current Status " was also held during the conference. This penal discussion brings together distinguished data mining experts from both academia and industry, including Professor Zhihua Zhou from Nanjing University, Professor Yaochu Jin from University of Surrey, Dr. Nitesh Chawla from University of Notre Dame, Dr. Hui Xiong from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, and Dr. Graham J. Williams and Dr. Kai Yu (Director of Engineering Department of Baidu, Inc.), to share their precious experience and views on the state-of-the-art and future direction of Big Data Analytics.
