Professor Depei Qian of Beihang University, CCF Chief Supervisor, and Professor Lijun Wan, the President of University of Science and Technology of China, chaired the event. Professor Kai Li of Princeton University, Professor Ninghui Sun of Institute of Computing Technology (ICT) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Enhong Chen of University of Science and Technology of China served as co-chairs of the event.

The opening ceremony began at 9:00am in Hefei Binhu International Convention and Exhibition Center. Over 3,600 participants from academia, industry, and government joined the ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by Professor Zide Du, who is Secretary General of CCF and a researcher of ICT.

Invited talks were given by Professor Michael Stonebraker, Professor Tianyou Chai, Professor Deyi Li, and Professor Jianwei Pan.

After 12 years of development, CNCC has become the most influential and the largest high-level conference in computer science research and technology, bringing together leading scholars, experts, and young researchers, said by Professor Depei Qian in the opening statement. He appreciated the participants and organizers for their efforts. Both the number of participants and the number of sections hit a record high this year. Qian believed that every participant will benefit from CNCC.

Professor Wu Xu said that, the development of computer science was supported with great importance in USTC, since founded in 1958. In 2010, USTC was among the world’s top 1% in ESI ranking in computer science. He expressed his belief that computer science in USTC will benefit from the event.

Professor Alexander L. Wolf, President of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), greeted the participants in Chinese. ACM is the world’s first and largest educational and scientific computing society. Wolf outlined ACM’s cooperation, composition of members, and publication in China.

Professor Thomas Martin Conte, President of the IEEE Computer Society (IEEE CS), introduced that IEEE CS is the world's premier organization of computing professionals and the largest non-profit technical professional association, with more than 420,000 members in over 160 countries. He outlined the purpose of IEEE CS and its publication.

Qingjun Zhang, the Mayor of Hefei, said in his speech that Hefei is a great city of long history and rich culture. It has advantages in transportation, education, industry, and ecological environment. China’s first microcomputer was produced in Hefei. A number of world’s famous universities and research institutes are located in Hefei. Hefei is also a national high-tech information industry base, which attracts a number of leading enterprises, including Lenovo and BOE. Through CNCC, he hoped that more high-tech projects could find opportunities in Hefei.

Chairman Cunrong Wu announced that CNCC 2015 officially opened.

In his invited talk, Professor Michael Stonebraker, a Turing Award Winner, shared his story of crossing America by bike in the summer of 1988. He used the story as an example to explain the design, structure, and construction of database systems in early 1990s, and discussed how to build a new-generation database system. Professor Tianyou Chai gave a talk titled “Intelligent Manufacturing and Intelligent Optimization of Manufacturing”. He analyzed how intelligent optimization of manufacturing in China’s process industry benefit from the age of big data. Professor Deyi Li’s talk focused on brain and cognition, introducing the latest research on analyzing the nature of cognition and artificial brain. Professor Jianwei Pan introduced the progress, principles, and leading topics in quantum information science, in his talk “The Forefront of Quantum Information Technology Progress”. Pan showed a vivid vision of quantum science and technology in the future.

CNCC 2015 will be held during October 22-24. Over 30 technical forums will be hosted, covering topics of Artificial intelligence, China self-made software & hardware, Data Science and Engineering, Big Data, Storage technology, Robot Application, Innovation and Startup in College students, Internet Financial.
A science and technology achievements exhibition will be composed of high-tech, theme zone and publishers. It also includes tutorials on big data technology, salon of female IT elites, and startup contests. Various CCF awards will be announced during CNCC 2015.

CNCC was founded in 2003 and held annually. Different from other academic conferences, CNCC is a leading and professional conference on comprehensive topics, whose goal is illustrating the latest developments of computer science and IT industry, predicting future trends, and promoting the application of latest technologies.
