On February 22nd, the Party Central Committee and the State Council made clear requirements for the prevention and control of the new crown epidemic, and Beijing specially issued the Beijing People's Government General Office on Further Supporting Several Measures for the Prevention and Control of the Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia Epidemic Situation. In order to help the prevention and control of the epidemic and the economic and social recovery after the epidemic, promote the opening of Beijing government data, absorb the top social resources of the big data industry, and fully release the intelligent resources of professionals, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economics and Information Technology and the Big Data Expert Committee of the China Computer Federation co-sponsored the  Beijing, 2020 Open Data and Innovative Application Competition | Fighting Epidemics & Big Data Charity Challenge. After four months of competition, it attracted 5,525 teams from around the world and submitted 23,290 entries. In the second phase of the program track, in conjunction with the window period when the epidemic situation in Beijing is better, on-site competitions will be held at the Beijing Public Data Open Innovation Base. The organizing committee provides the participating teams with special competition data, free cloud resources and domestic flight In the competitive environment such as the paddle artificial intelligence framework, the newly opened data comes from the Beijing Municipal Transportation Commission, the Municipal Bureau of Commerce, the Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau, the Municipal Health Commission, the Municipal Statistics Bureau, China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom, and the Municipal Transportation Card There are 13 departments and units including Didi, China Communications Xinglu Company, China Power Great Wall Internet, Meituan, etc., with a total of 57 categories and 488 items, totaling 330G. The USTC Inventor Studio team led by Yu Runlong participated in this live competition.

The competition has received positive responses from universities, scientific research institutions, enterprises, and entrepreneurs around the world, especially domestic well-known universities such as Tsinghua University and Peking University, and well-known Internet companies such as Baidu, Alibaba, and Tencent. The USTC Inventor Studio, five doctoral and master students under the supervision of Professor Liu Qi and Professor Chen Enhong, director of Anhui Key Laboratory of Big Data Analysis and Application, where Yu Runlong (captain), Wu Han, Li Zhi, Zheng Zhi, and Hao Qiming, after tenacious hard work, stood out from the competition teams including many well-known companies with excellent performance, ranked first in the Major Public Health Emergency Handling Solutions contest, won the first prize and PaddlePaddle Application Grand Prize; Three master students of the Research Group of Modal Intelligence and Knowledge Networks (USTC-MINE): Li Shuangli (captain), Wu Xunxian, and Wang Li's F-Valverde team, based on online evaluation and final presentation, ranked first in the algorithm track Crowd Density Forecast in Key Areas and won the first prize. The two teams demonstrated the championship style of the school and the laboratory, and the instructor was the same coach, Associate Professor Xu Tong.

Preventing and controlling major public health emergencies such as the new type of coronavirus pneumonia is a common challenge for people across the country and even the whole world. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that, encouragement of the use of big data, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and other digital technologies can better play a supporting role in epidemic monitoring and analysis, virus traceability, prevention, control and treatment, and resource deployment. In the form of big data competition, the Beijing Municipal Government has widely recruited the intelligent resources of big data talents, and promoted epidemic prevention and control work that combines technology and people's livelihood needs, which has demonstrated the importance of training big data and artificial intelligence professionals. The team led by Professor Chen Enhong has long been engaged in the training of big data talents. It not only attaches importance to the teaching of data science theory but also values students' experience in solving real-world problems and application implementation. For example, Yu Runlong created the USTC Inventor Studio, and has won many honors such as the KDDCup Special Award and the Bronze Award of the China Digital City Competition. Practice has shown that cultivating new engineering talents with a combination of theoretical foundation and engineering practical experience responds to the country's strategic deployment in the field of big data, and will play an increasingly important role in the construction of industry and informatization.
