Fourth Consecutive Win : Another Championship of the Chorus Contest in Memory of the December 9th Movement

On Dec.9th night, 2012, the Chorus Contest Finals for the 77th Anniversary of the December 9th Movement was held in the East Hall of USTC. Nearly 2000 faculties and students attended the singing contest with the theme of “Eternal East Wind”. School of Computer Science and Technology (SCST) students presented the wonderful performance of school anthem “Eternal East Wind” and ballad song “Crescent Moon”, taking the crown of the finals.
 

  

 

There are totally 12 contestant teams from different schools which performed marvelous musicals one after another in the Chorus Contest. As the 10th team to contest, students of SCST conquered the pressure from the rival teams and exhibited their outstanding capability in the performance.

With a piece of mellifluous melody of “Crescent Moon”, SCST students’ passionate performance hit the climax of the whole Chorus Contest, winning continuous applause with cheers of bravo from the audience.

 

 

For what they were worth, SCST students took the championship with the highest score, which was also the fourth consecutive crown record in the memorial activity for the December 9th Movement , realizing the proud goal of four straight championships.

 

The December 9th Movement was a famous event in Chinese history. Large amount of teachers and students held the anti-Japanese demonstration in Beijing, Dec. 9th 1935, aiming at protesting the Japanese aggressive actions and calling for national salvation. The Chorus Contest in USTC was held to commemorate this patriotic movement. Therefore, devoting into the Chorus Contest not only edified the students’ mind and enriched their extra-curricular activities, but also assisted everyone to remember the history and look forward to the future. Furthermore, students’ collectivism awareness and teamwork cooperation spirit were also enhanced in the process.
