Dr. LI Xiangyang Appointed Visiting Professor

On October 30th, professor of Illinois Institute of Technology, LI Xiangyang gave a report under the invitation of the School of Computer Science and Technology and was appointed a Visiting Professor of USTC. 

Presided over by Prof. HUANG Liusheng, executive vice dean of Suzhou Institute of USTC,  the Appointment Ceremony was held in the Academic Hall of SCST on the afternoon.  Prof. XU Yinlong, vice dean of SCST, presented the Letter of Appointment to Dr. LI.  Also present at the meeting were some of faculty members and students of related laboratories of SCST.

 

 

After the appointment ceremony, Dr. LI delivered a report entitled “Large Scale Wireless Networking Systems: Theory, Experiences, and Lessons”. Firstly, Dr. LI introduced several wireless sensor network systems such as Marine Monitoring, GreenOrbs, CitySee, which were co-developed by his group and other research groups. Secondly, he described the technical problems encountered in the research as well as solutions. Finally, he talked about achievements of his group in scientific research and shared his viewpoint on research opportunities and challenges with audiences who benefited more from listening to his report and were impressed deeply by vivid and substantial content.

 


 

LI Xiangyang, professor of Illinois Institute of Technology, serves as Chicago area President of Chinese American Professors and Scientists Association. He has ever served as the editors of some journals, such as IEEE TPDS, TMC and Networks, and been the presidents of several international top conferences, such as MobiCom, MobiHoc, MASS. Dr. LI has published numerous articles and because of his outstanding academic achievements, he received the Fund of the United States, China and Hong Kong and other countries and regions, and was appointed as a member of the expert review group of the Department of Information Sciences by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
