Dr. Rainer Bischoff Visit USTC

From December 13 to 14, Dr. Rainer Bischoff, vice chairman of the European Society of robotics, Germany KUKA Robotics R & D director, and his party of four including CEO of KUKA Shanghai Bing Kong, were invited to visit USTC.

 

On December 13th afternoon, Dr. Bischoff and his party arrived at our USTC Robotics Center, to observe a detailed demonstration of “Kuka”, the intelligent service robot which is developed on the independent research at our school. Without prior preparation, “Kuka” successfully passed all impromptu tests on a number of functions. Professor Chen Xiaoping briefed the guests on the development history of robotics center, the research and main achievements. Dr. Bischoff congratulated on our outstanding achievements made in the field of intelligent robot. Consensus on the specific content of further cooperation on the use of USTC Institute of Advanced Technology platform to carry out the research-to-industry transformation have been reached.


On December 14th morning, Dr. Bischoff gave a lecture entitled "Trends for the Future of Robotics Innovation through Collaboration". The report first reviews the KUKA company's 100 years of development with innovation as the core concept. The company is currently ranked first in the world in a number of fields in robotics application, with a large number of the world's leading key technologies. After the report, Dr. Bischoff conducted in-depth exchanges with teachers and students.

 

Dr. Bischoff is responsible for KUMA’s research and technology development projects and the maturation of subsequent product development. Dr. Bischoff was Executive Board Chair of the European Robotics Technology Platform EUROP and is Vice-President Industry of euRobotics AISBL-the European Robotics Association he created and led into a public-private partnership with the European Commission. He has authored over 100 papers, receiving three best paper awards.
