The center aims to build an energy-efficient cloud computing platform with excellent massive data processing ability, which will serve in fields like teaching, scientific research and enterprise technological innovation. A self-developed server cluster system with 100 computing nodes, along with a programming environment and a job scheduling software supporting Tensorflow and Caffe framework, guarantees the platform’s performance on the above tasks. Its construction will effectively enhance the intelligent computing ability of USTC Supercomputing Center and accelerate the development of related fields. As a branch of USTC Supercomputing Center, SCC of USTC Suzhou plans to build a cluster service platform with a capacity of over 1000 nodes in the next three years.
The intelligent server cluster system, developed by a research team led by LI Xi at USTC, is an energy-efficient cluster system based on Cambrian intelligent processors. It is one of the largest of its kind in China and is expected to support development of deep learning applications. Professor LI Xi’s team has dedicated to the research of high-efficiency computing platform for a long time. Recently, a joint laboratory of high-efficiency intelligent computers was set up by the team and Cambrian Company in Suzhou in a joint effort to conduct research on intelligent computing equipment and carry out work on talents training.
Suzhou Industrial Park has been providing strong support to the construction of the center for years. At present, Suzhou Industrial Park boasts more than 1000 generalized AI enterprises, with a strong ambition to become not only a well-known cradle for AI innovation, but also a showcase for AI application and an industrial settlement for AI industry by 2020. The foundation of SCC of USTC Suzhou will further fuel the technology innovation and development of related industries in Suzhou Industrial Park. It is expected to become an efficient innovation platform for industry, university and research.
